The legend of the rent
Good news, everybody! Baby and I moved into a house on our first day in Pasadena! It's a bit small -- by which I mean that it comprises a 300 s.f. room, a kitchen, and a bath -- but it's really great. It's medium-priced by LA county standards (about twice what we paid in Durham), and it's only a short bike ride from my school. Best of all, we have amazing landlords -- Fuller Seminary. They didn't even require us to give them a deposit.
I started back at work today. Mostly I moved computers around and fixed a couple of small hardware issues. Baby applied for several jobs around campus. I'm confident that she'll get something good with health insurance.
Being in Pasadena so far has been amazing. We've been out with friends more in the past four days than we probably did the whole year that we were in Durham, and everybody new we've met has been nice.
The drive out here was also pretty great. Baby and I camped in Balmorhea, TX (pronouced BAL-MORE-A) and it was beautiful. I strongly recommend it for those who have the means.
The only downer of late is that we had to leave our beloved Ramona in with Stands With A Fist in Austin. Fist's going to take good care of her, and Ramona will be happier in Austin, but we're going to miss that little bitch.
Anyway, if you want to send us anything or stop by to marvel out our tiny bungalow, here's our new address:
Lazlo and Baby Hollyfeld
103 N. Catalina Ave. #2
Pasadena, CA 91106

the address made me laugh aloud.
I always thought of Real Genius when I saw Lazlo...I wasn't ever sure that is was a refrence to that until now.
Genius!
it sure beats that closet/steam tunnel we've been living in for the last few years...
Congratulation Baby and Lazlo!! You two will make great parents! Avoid those midnight runs to the convenience store for diapers with pantyhose on your head though.
