Baby's in trouble

| | Comments (13)

Well, Baby and I pulled a fast one on the state of California today, and got a free doctor's visit. Here's the diagnosis:

PREGNANT!

Baby is totally knocked up with child. Embarazada. Lazlo's going to be a daddy!

We've actually known for a few weeks now. Baby doesn't usually throw up every day, so we knew it was either a baby or a "Taste of Bangkok" (you Pasadena dwellers will know what I mean by this). We've had time to prayerfully consider names, and we've come up with the following: if she's a girl, her name is going to be "Heart For The Nations." If he's a boy, he shall be called "Ten Forty Window." That or "L'il Lazlo."

Well, here are the pictures:

These are possibly the worst sonograms ever taken of a healthy 10-week-old fetus, but we got to see a lot more in the office. Milagro (as we've taken to calling him/her) has stubs that will be arms, and a strong heartbeat. The heartbeat was the best part. The nurse was the weird part. She didn't seem to like it when people have babies. Baby remembers the visit a little bit differently, and so she contests the labels I put on the close-up ultrasound picture. But I say that nobody thinks completely clearly when she's wearing a paper gown and stirrups.

Anyways, we're obviously really excited. This baby thing isn't going to make our lives any easier, and Baby's not getting a Powerbook any sooner, but having an extra dependent can hardly be considered a bad thing.

P.S.: Listen to Richard Swift, because he's amazing.

Oh yeah -- the baby's head is obscured by shadows. He loves those womb shadows. He's already making stub puppets.

My favorite quote from Zoe when we told her was "Kate and Chase don't usually get pregnant!" Congratulations! So excited not to be the only child-bearing pioneers in this Roden generation.

Tim and I talked about this and we're starting a betting pool on the child's gender. Since Texas took away Monday night bingo we have to find alternate forms of gambling.

I think the thorax is really a sign that it's a she. get used to it, Chase. and get ready to pay up, Tim.
