Being on the road makes blogging difficult. Thank goodness the Wimpkiller Conglomerate is here for me.

Baby and I are living between Beaumont and Austin now. Baby's sister (Stands With A Fist, or Fist for short) just got a tiny, tiny house in Austin and we're staying there tonight. It's one room. Not even a very big room, actually, and there are saloon-style swinging doors on the bathroom.

Well, Baby and I have decided that she's going to sell her body to Pharmaco for a few weeks while I try to find us a place in California. So far, the housing hunt has turned up nothing. If any readers out there have a lead on a house in Pasadena, Glendale, Altadena, South Pasadena, or Northeast LA that allows medium-sized dogs, holla back.

I fly back to Pasadena on Wednesday. I'm going to stay with Colonel Rhombus and Mr. Boddy for a week or so -- until I find a place -- and hopefully spend as little money as possible. Baby will be taking experimental antibiotics on the weekends and possibly working at an overpriced coffee shop for a few weeks. We'll see.

The White Entry

Loyal readers:

Holy crap, it's been a long time. I can't believe the page went white. But hey -- I've been on the move.

So, here's the update, for those of you who haven't seen me in person recently. I spent the last three weeks or so in Pasadena, looking for a house and starting my new job. Unfortunately, I haven't found a place yet. The dog is a major issue. Nobody within biking distance of my school wants to rent his apartment to a dog-owner for less than a billion dollars a month. (Side note: Colonel Rhombus, who goes to my new school, says that gender-specific language like that isn't going to fly at the seminary. So look forward to a new gender-inclusive Lazlo Files.)

Speaking of Cl. Rhombus, I saw several excellent shows during my time in Pasadena. Not only did I get to see a thoroughly rockkus JUUNE show at The El Rey (everything in LA has a "the" on it, including the highways and some of the people), but I got blown away by Books Died On at The Gig in Hollywood. It was a great show, and I was sincerely impressed with BDO's rockability and Mr. Boddy's delightful stage antics. You haven't seen that boy dance until you've seen him boogie to the lonesome beat of a sampler. Sadly, their show at The Scene in Glendale was hijacked by electronic failures and bad sound, so it never really got to reach its full rock potential.

Back to the update, though. Baby spent most of those three weeks in Beaumont taking care of her mom, who broke one of her knees, and helping her best friend prepare for her wedding. However, for three and a half magical days, Baby joined me for in Pasadena for her birthday. We had dinner at a great Thai restaurant with a mixed group of old and new friends.

So, I'm back in Austin for the next couple of weeks. Baby and I will be celebrating our anniversary tomorrow, and then going to the beach with my family for a weekend. Watch this space for tales of sunburn and driving.

Blogging on the job

Well, today is my first day at work. I'm working 8:30 - 5:30, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. My boss is out with a broken foot and I'm the only person at work.

I have a phone on my desk that goes straight to voicemail instead of ringing, and I'm responsible for making sure that anybody who calls gets help. Unfortunately, nobody can tell me how to take my calls off forwarding, so I'm forced to resort to checking my voicemail every 15 minutes or so.

I don't have a key to my office, my paperwork isn't complete (so I can't get an e-mail account), and I don't have any of the important passwords, so I can't work on the server. But I did just help an older woman type a URL into Internet Explorer.
