Yep. It's me. Mr. Rice may be worse than me about updating, but his page is so much more interesting than mine that I definitely take the "Internet's worst" designation.

Anyway. Ten days of school left. Five school days until finals week starts. My dilemma now is what to do about students who are definitely going to fail my class. If I tell them now, they won't have any reason to come to class or do their work when they do come for the rest of the year. They should realize that there's no chance of passing -- since they knew they were failing at the mid-term, and none of them have made even a slight effort to do their work or study since -- but I don't want anybody to be surprised when they get a report card with an "F." Oh, well. At least I won't be around for their parents to complain to.

Baby and I have now packed most of our books and some of our dishes. The truck is reserved, but unfortunately I couldn't get a diesel. The smallest diesel Penske has is 22'. So, I'll be buying around 500 gallons of gasoline this summer. An equivalent amount of diesel would fuel my car for about a year.

I'm excited about riding my bicycle next year.

My hillbilly neighbors have taken to firing a gun in the air (?) about once every four hours. I'll see what I can find out about this and let you know.

Baby and I tried the MORNINGSTAR CORN[Y] DOGS the other day. "Eerie" is probably the best word to describe them. Yes, they were very good -- if slightly overpriced -- but their most eduring quality is the uncanny approximation of flesh.

If I didn't have so much faith in the FDA I would swear those suckers were pork.

Oh, and Krista -- that was meant as a real compliment, not a backhanded one. I don't really blame you for stealing the Lazlo Files' site design.

Now that look, ma, no hands! has stolen my generic, default Moveable Type page design, I may have to take the look of the Lazlo Files up a notch, so to speak. I've got nothing on this Krista girl (inneedofatourniquet), considering how she seems to update frequently and actually writes about interesting things.

23 school days left. I'm not sure what I said before, but it's 23 from now.

I like my job and all, but teaching sucks this close to summer, let me tell you. Today's Spanish I attendance rate: 29% (two out of seven present). Woo-hoo. When the students are actually there, I spend most of my time trying to prevent them from going to sleep or leaving. I know I'm not that boring.

In other news -- Will and I went camping this weekend. It was fun. We hiked into our campsite with my ridiculously oversized tent, beer, food, my dog, and no forks or spoons. Fortunately, Will used his new Leatherman to carve us some rudimentary utensils out of sticks we found.

Baby has beach fever. Every moment of free time means an opportunity to drive to the beach (three hours from here). For instance: tomorrow, it suddenly turns out, she doesn't have to work. So, this afternoon she says "Hey! Maybe we can drive to the beach tonight." Apparently she's forgotten that I have a job, too. This is aside from the comment that she made earlier that I need to maintain a certain relationship with a fellow teacher so that we can use his beach house next time we're in North Carolina.

I wonder if we'll ever come back here once we move. I strongly doubt it.

"Freaks and Geeks" is an excellent TV show. So is "The Office," especially the first series.

Have you heard that OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE COMMERCIAL with the jingle that's an obvious John Cougar/Bryan Adams medley? I hate it. I especially hate it since it always gets "Hurt so good" stuck in my head. Oh well, it could be "Summer of '69," which is probably worse.

Although now that I've mentioned it, I'll probably have that song in my head. What do those horrible Outback Steakhouse singers think of themselves? Are they fulfilling their career aspirations?

I may be the world's worst blogger. I was prompted to write this when I noticed that MT pushed my last entry off the page -- leaving it blank. Not that it would have mattered if you could read it, since the RobinCam seems to be down.

MY BROTHER is flying into Durham tonight. Woo-hoo! We're going to go camping somewhere in beautiful WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA.

I've got to go administer a quiz over the Spanish imperfect tense. Watch this space for sporadic updates.

Update: I should mention that there are 25 school days left before graduation.
