Well, it's been about two and a half weeks now and I have to say I like the Pho. It's beautiful weather (now) because it's not summer. Chilly evenings, and warm (yet dry) afternoons.
I've got a lot of stories already but I haven't been diligent in updating the blog. I'll try to recount those as best as possible. If I ever get the time. Time is something I probably always have but I just don't use well. You see, I downloaded this game called "Grid Wars" for the OSX (and Windows too, I think) and I rule at it. I hear it's like Geometry Wars for the XBOX 360º. Since I don't have internet at home yet (hopefully that's changing), I just play that all night while watching Pimp My Ride on MTV.
[SIDENOTE] MTV has some really good shows. Like the "Living with Turrets" documentary, Pimp My Ride, and Parental Control. Coming back to America, I didn't expect to watch any MTV. It's almost shameful to say I enjoy MTV, but I do. There I've said it. Lambast me. [/SIDENOTE]
I guess this is just a post that says "I'm alive and doing well. A bit poor, but I should get paid soon. Phoenix has a lot of palm trees and strip clubs. I have a guy sleeping on the couch. I make internets. 2 sites in 2 weeks." and that's about that. until tomorrow y'all.
so i'm moving to Phoenix. which i will affectionately call "the pho" after one of my favorite vietnamese dishes. it's not a straight move. i busted out Suitcase and we're going with a month of clothes, books, and computer cords. initially i'll be out there for a month and then eventually move out there more permanently in the near future ('round the turn of the year).
i'm going to be a web developer Interactive Director, doing all the grunt work for my more creative ex-roommate RayGun. i'll be working for a real estate marketing and sales company who does a lot of high dollar sites.
exciting. desert. cacti. heat....
... did i mention that i'm moving ON THURSDAY?? that's incredibly soon and should make for a busy month since we need to roll out three sites. well i better sleep and pack. faiiiiiiiito!!!
well i'm here in L.A. and have been since Wednesday. in a one week's span I went from Pasadena, Texas to Pasadena, California. it was tons of driving. California is really far away from Texas. We left, as I said before on monday and drove 18 straight hours to Phoenix. i wrote a real sappy post on el paso and sunsets, which i may post on a later date... but not now. i couldn't find any wifi around the hotel, so it's moot.
On Tuesday, dlockett and I went to the Grand Canyon. Amazing. I haven't been since I was 8 years old, so it was cool. i yodeled. I also eavesdropped on the Japanese. i'm a spy. we forewent the sunset and drove through the painted desert as the sun was setting instead. totally amazing. i've got lomos to boot, so once i get those developed and on CD, you'll be looking at them.
my only problem was that -even in deep indian country- i couldn't find a human sized pair of moccasins, which i'm dying to own. shreesh. what's the world coming to!
Los Angeles has been an experience. It's a mix of traffic, wealth, and third world. I like it. it's been good to see Lazlo and Baby after three years and meeting their walking, gibberish-speaking daughter Wren. Thanks to Arkay (who is sitting in front of me as i write this), I've been exposed to some of the L.A. music scene. A total jam. If you haven't heard Music! Go! Music!, then I recommend that you experience the fantasy music oddessy. Bodies of Water is also a rock show that will leave you screaming melodies in your head for the rest of the night. i've met lots of people that all seem rather radical.
well, i fly out tomorrow and go to austin and that leads me to my next head line...
news flash: i'm moving!
i've got a job and i'm moving. my days of being broke ass are hopefully coming to an end. because i don't have all the details right now, feel free call me on the phone, or just wait for the blog post. goodbye and goodluck.in about ten minutes i will be embarking on quite a road trip. i have the distinct privilege of helping my friend dlockett move to Los Angeles, California. The truck is pack, the car is in tow and now it's a matter of securing breakfast and then hitting the open road.
adios. i'll write you from pheonix.
